Intensive English Remote Program

The English Language Institute’s synchronous remote courses are available for individuals who want to study English to advance their careers both locally and globally.

Our 12 or 14-week, accelerated courses range from levels 1 to 6 and offer a strong foundation in all language skills while providing students with lively, collaborative, and challenging language exercises and tasks. Those interested in taking these courses will take a placement test and will be placed in one of our levels. Students will learn alongside others who are in a face-to-face classroom environment on the FIU campus.

Our courses are offered three times a year: fall, spring, and summer. At the end of each term, those individuals who successfully complete their levels will receive a certificate of completion.

Note about Exams: Non F-1 students who are taking classes remotely (hyflex) but who reside in Monroe, MiamiDade, or Broward counties will be required to physically come into campus for Midterm and Final assessments. Dates will be provided by instructors at the beginning of the term.

Note about Personal Devices: The Intensive English Program Remote is an academic English program. Students will be exposed to and use Canvas for their class assignments and exams. To access Canvas, students will be expected to use a personal device for class (iPad or laptop) by the end of the first week of classes. Please note that we do not recommend students use Chromebooks because certain learning softwares do not work on Chromebook devices.

Note about Modality: Hyflex instruction is not applicable to F-1 students, who are only permitted the face-to-face instructional modality (by visa requirement).
